What Makes Commercial Epoxy Coating Different from Other Concrete Floor Coating?
While concrete paint is a single layer, epoxy coatings use a combination of components that seal to the surface for better adhesion, making it abrasion and fluid resistant. For garage floor coatings, that means you’ll have a surface that can withstand exposure to oil, water, mold and mildew. For commercial epoxy coating, bare concrete can be turned into a surface that is more durable than traditional flooring, and it retains a high gloss finish without waxing.
The Perfect Choice for Garage Floor Coatings
If you want to keep your garage or shop clean, there’s no better choice than an epoxy floor coating. Oil and water bead up on the surface of an epoxy floor, so spills can be picked up or swept away instead of needing to be soaked up with messy absorbent granules. When it’s time to clean your epoxy garage floor, you can use the same mops, brushes and cleaning chemicals you use on your in-home flooring.
Most off-the-shelf coatings are either just semi-gloss paint or an epoxy formulation with a high solvent content that leaves a thin, fragile finish. High solids content professional coatings will last through years of exposure to water, oil, household chemicals, tire scrubbing and tools. Having us apply the coating won’t just save you from doing the work, it will also give your floor a more durable surface than you could possibly get doing it yourself.
Looking at custom garage floors? We can color the epoxy layer and add paint chips below the top coat to get the look you want without compromising durability. This lets you add some style to your garage whether it’s a place to work on cars, do some carpentry, or act as an extension to your house.

How is Epoxy Applied?
Whether you’re getting an epoxy garage floor, wall or other surface coating, the process remains the same:
1. The surface is prepared. Old coatings and dirt are removed, and any imperfections are filled in to get a flat, uniform surface.
2. A primer is applied to the surface. Some epoxy coatings are self-priming, so this step can be skipped.
3. The epoxy is applied to the prepared surface. This coating goes on as a mixture of solid coating and solvents. As the solvents dissolve, the remaining coating bond to the floor. The higher the solvent content, the easier it is to apply. However, a higher solid to solvent ratio increases the durability of the floor. A professional coating will be pure solids, resulting in a finish that can’t be matched by DIY applications.
4. Decorative elements like paint chips are added.
5. A glaze is applied. This seals the surface, protects the color layer and gives the floor a high gloss shine.
6. The surface is allowed to cure, creating a solid seal with the underlying concrete.
On a garage floor, expect the prep work to take at least a day, then another two days or so to apply the layers of coating. Naturally, large scale projects like industrial floors and buildings will take longer. Curing times will also vary depending on temperature.
Once applied and cured, epoxy is very durable, and has no problem handling harsh weather and heavy traffic. Over time, the glaze can wear down and become dull, but this can be revived with polishing or by applying a new top coat.
